Your final service will be a beautiful and memorable life celebration, one that pays respect to your tradition and beliefs.
Some younger generations of Australian-born Greeks may not be as familiar with the Greek Orthodox funeral traditions as their parents were. That’s why, at Funerals of Compassion, our knowledgeable funeral directors are committed to helping today’s Greek families preserve their tradition – in a way that is dignified, respectful and memorable.
Your director will work closely with you to understand your (or the deceased’s) wishes. They will explain the benefits of each option to you, and give you all the time you need to make an informed choice. You will know exactly what to expect and how much everything will cost.
Your service can be as traditional or contemporary as you wish. We can help you arrange a suitable time and place to conduct the wake, including a priest to perform the Trisagion Service. For the official service, we can prepare the prayers, readings and hymns for you, and – if you wish – conduct an open casket service, which is common practice for many Greek families.
If you wish to host a traditional ‘dual service,’ where the service begins at a church and then moves to a cemetery for the ceremony, we can arrange staff and vehicles on the day for a seamless transition.
